hummingwolf: Drawing of a creature that is part-wolf, part-hummingbird. (Hummingwolf by Dandelion)

In other news

I used to buy myself a copy of The World Almanac and Book of Facts every year, partly to look at all the pretty flags pictured, mostly to read about all sorts of trivial things that happened during the year. Why did I enjoy this? Because I was (and am) a geek, naturally. Now I've learned of a new reason to buy an almanac. Anybody in the mood to buy me one--a late Christmas present, perhaps? I can see it now, me with a nice, juicy almanac to read on the Metro and carry around in the Smithsonian. Ooh, and it's been years since I toured the White House.

Closer to home, that black cat who crossed my path twice in one night last week crossed my path again last night and yet again today. The critter seems to like our house and yard, though it makes a mad dash away every time it sees me. Scaredy-cat.

I've decided that my big New Year's Resolution will be to rate songs in every genre and subgenre that Launchcast has available, using the powers of the Launch Information Project to guide and assist me. Yes, we have established that I'm a geek.

Currently reading: Dorothy L. Sayers' Mind of the Maker. I've been resisting the urge to quote large portions of the book, but [livejournal.com profile] seraphimsigrist suggests I should type up a bit of the book and so I'll probably do that tomorrow.

In other other news: The hummingwolf has been eating far too many Mint M&Ms recently. This comes as a surprise to no-one.

Yep. Always have to watch out for those terrorists knowing when to plant their corn. If we aren't careful, the nation's popcorn supply might be tainted by evil Terrorist Corn that's extra-full of those obnoxious little yellow bits that get stuck between your teeth.

Let me help you out and take those pesky M&M's off your hands.
I would be curious as to see your ratings

An almanac sounds real good right now.

When you're researching the weather, you're researching with Osama bin Laden!

Why, didn't you know that 90% of this year's printing of The Farmer's Almanac was bought up by Al Qaeda? It's amazing that the government lets these people stay in business.

We should make sure that every map that's ever printed has imperfections and nonexistent streets in it so that terrorists can't rely on the maps for navigation. That's what the Soviets did, after all. Terrorists will have to give up their plans now! Ha ha! (Or maybe just look up all the info they need on the evil Internet.)

I'd suggest you listen to my station to find out what my tastes are like, but I seem to recall you've got a computer setup that's even older than mine. Maybe I'll end up posting some ratings-related stuff behind lj-cuts in the coming year for those who might be interested.

I might let you take these M&Ms off my hands, but the ones on my feet will have to stay with me.

"You there! You think I don't see you? Stop looking up the recent history of Burundi! You're under arrest!"

Mint??

M&Ms come in mint, too?
Who'd a thought?

As to that Almanac... I feel a sudden urge to stop at a bookstore today.. and have a purse with pockets.. the almanac will almost fit in.. only the top will stick out, showing the title plainly.. oh dear.

Mint M&Ms are available only at winter holiday time and, since most people haven't heard of them, they aren't available in as many stores as the more popular kinds are. Still, if the thought of M&M chocolates with a little mint flavoring appeals to you, it might be worth your while to hunt them down in the after-Christmas candy sales.

Yes, the almanac thing is just a bit too tempting.

I have seen some of your playlist.I actually now have a broadband connection, but don't spend enough time on to listen to music

Yeah, but if they do, we could just send them to Mapquest for their directions.

I'll have to be lazy about doing my own homework at the moment -- could you tell me about Sayers?
