In other news

I used to buy myself a copy of The World Almanac and Book of Facts every year, partly to look at all the pretty flags pictured, mostly to read about all sorts of trivial things that happened during the year. Why did I enjoy this? Because I was (and am) a geek, naturally. Now I've learned of a new reason to buy an almanac. Anybody in the mood to buy me one--a late Christmas present, perhaps? I can see it now, me with a nice, juicy almanac to read on the Metro and carry around in the Smithsonian. Ooh, and it's been years since I toured the White House.

Closer to home, that black cat who crossed my path twice in one night last week crossed my path again last night and yet again today. The critter seems to like our house and yard, though it makes a mad dash away every time it sees me. Scaredy-cat.

I've decided that my big New Year's Resolution will be to rate songs in every genre and subgenre that Launchcast has available, using the powers of the Launch Information Project to guide and assist me. Yes, we have established that I'm a geek.

Currently reading: Dorothy L. Sayers' Mind of the Maker. I've been resisting the urge to quote large portions of the book, but [livejournal.com profile] seraphimsigrist suggests I should type up a bit of the book and so I'll probably do that tomorrow.

In other other news: The hummingwolf has been eating far too many Mint M&Ms recently. This comes as a surprise to no-one.
