::thud::

Got a letter in the mail from Social Services today. I have been approved for cash assistance and medical assistance effective Dec. 1, 2003 and for food stamps effective Nov. 1, 2003. I may not have access to the benefits on my electronic benefits card until I call them up at the office next week and I don't know if I'll be on the same medical plan as I was before the bureaucratic foulup, but I have been approved for the next year and don't have to keep fighting this particular branch of bureaucracy anymore.

I was shaking with relief for a good while after getting this letter.

Finally, I can eat carrots again--the raw, crunchy kind instead of the mushy canned kind! I can buy fresh fish and fresh chicken! I can buy olive oil so I can fry the fresh fish and fresh chicken! I can get fresh green veggies and fresh fruits and I can stock up on lots & lots of Mint M&Ms!

Now back to dealing with Social Security, rotten health, and relatives. Heh.

YAY!

So, these benefits are good for the *whole* year? That's faboo!

Well, for a year after the effective approval date--so Nov. 1 for food stamps, and Dec. 1 for the rest. Unless something changes, that is, which I rather hope it does since it'd be great to get the Social Security benefits I applied for eons ago.

/me hugs back.
