Hummingwolf News in Brief

Remember a few days ago when I mentioned in passing that the furnace was out of oil and the house was getting cold? New oil was delivered several days ago, and guess what? The furnace still isn't in the mood to warm things up and the landlord's out of town, so the current temperature in the main part of the house is fifty degrees Fahrenheit. I am so grateful for this space heater a former housemate left behind.

Winter storm forecast for tonight through the middle of tomorrow--snow accumulations of a couple inches, probably, followed by ice and sleet. Today is bright and sunny and looking like an excellent day for a walk to buy some tea and toilet paper.

Have had a low-level migraine with accompanying brainfogginess for the last several days. I hates migraines with a fiery passion.

In spite of brainfogginess, I made myself an imaginary stuffed animal. My imaginary stuffed animal is now iconized, though I'll probably redo the icon a few times before I'll be happy with it.

Was offline most of yesterday and am now trying to read through over 24 hours worth of LiveJournal posts. You people are prolific.

Oh, and I did make more phone calls this week as well. Latest news from social services is that whoever was responsible (I'm still not clear on that) did everything they were supposed to do, so now some unit has the information and should make their decision soon. Also, the people at social services have been in training all week and so I must be patient (and what were they doing the previous six or seven weeks, exactly?).

Ever since learning that my file at social services has been transferred to their Special Projects Unit, I've been waiting for Lilah Morgan to pop up and tell me she's been wanting to kill me but the Senior Partners won't allow it.

Today's lunch selection is split pea and barley soup. The soup is nearly done now, so I'll end the post... here.

New ICON! Nifty. I like the green wings.

Special Projects, heh. See if they can give you a partial sale on your soul to clear up your health issues, then you can defeat them and keep your soul.

Sorry that the Migraine Fairy has visited all week. I swear the PTB just don't need to have a Fairy for every illness.

Mmmmmmmmm, soup.

Feel better!

Of course a real hummingbird's wings don't look like that, but seeing as this is an imaginary stuffed animal, I think the likeness is pretty good.

And I just spent the past several hours reading LJ (and eating some soup). I had no idea I had been off-LJ since about eight yesterday morning! Oh, I am so derelict in my duties. For shame!

Feel better!

I'm trying to! May the Un family have a splendiferous weekend--or at least a restful one!

Oh, off since 8am?

Did you drown in the Un post flood?

Nope, didn't drown. Though I can't say I read every word of the news stories (sorry!).

No prob. They were wordy this time.

Lilah was the greatest. I was sorry when they killed her off.

Lilah and Holland Manners were two of the best recurring characters on Angel. Of course both characters have shown up on the show after their deaths, it's just that death tends to make their appearances less frequent.

And I find it interesting that, so far, all the people who have commented on this post are lawyers. Not that two commenters really constitutes a pattern, but when you're already aware that the Special Projects Unit is on your case, perhaps it pays to be paranoid.

HW is on to us. We may have to liquidate her. Or at least put her into a hell dimension.

/un checks out the state of the HW

Never mind, she's got enough crap to deal with.

Here's a suggestion that might sound weird: water. No, seriously. I've discovered that I'm nearly always on the verge of dehydration, and in the winter it gets worse because the house is so dry and i'm so cold and the last thing i want to do is drink water, unless it's been boiled and there's a tea bag in it. But I read some reference to dehydration causing fatigue and migraines, so I bit the bullet and drank the water, and whaddyou know! I felt better!

I think I've lapsed again since then, though. It's all starting to come back. Also note that 'better' doesn't mean 'perfect', but every little bit helps. And I never would've guessed it if I hadn't stumbled upon the clue-by-four, so I figured it couldn't hurt to make the suggestion to you, too, just in case it's relevant. If it's not, no harm done. Right?

Okay, I'm apparently not in the journal I thought I was in, but hey, it's still me. :o)

Not a weird suggestion at all: I know from experience that dehydration headaches are horrible. So I usually do drink lots & lots of water. I probably drank less than usual last week because cold house makes cold water less appealing, though I did try to get plenty of herbal tea and tea into my system (the dehydration + cold situation is the reason teabags seemed like a reasonable expense rather than an indulgence I can't afford). Thanks for the reminder!
