The Magic of Bureaucracy
No matter which person you are speaking with or what kind of rank they may have within the organizational structure, they are not responsible for helping with your problem. There really ought to be some way to harness this magic as a force for good.
So I've got the phone number of yet another individual who may or may not be able to help me with the problem they're not responsible for, and I will call this phone number tomorrow and hope that I don't have to cancel tomorrow's doctor's appointment. Argh.
