Please do not leave your hummingwolf unattended.

What am I gonna do with this can of pickled lotus roots?

USe it in a salad.

Or dry it out and use it in stir fry.

Or dry it out and deep fat fry it.

My opinion

Mmmaybe. But probably not. The roots are a good source of fiber, though--I've got some stuck in my teeth now.

I may decide to cook it in something in order to hide the flavor. Guess I'm not really in the mood for brine.

I thought lotus was some kind of drug plant.

There are myths about the Lotus Eaters, who would feed their guests fruit of the lotus which would make them forget their homeland and wish to live in Lotusland forever. I think there's something about this in the Odyssey.

However, as far as I can tell, the powers of the lotus plant are the stuff of myth, not reality. My main reaction to trying some lotus root was to get annoyed by the fibers stuck in my teeth.

Got it at some Indian grocery near my doctor's office. As impulse purchases go, it was cheap. Not something I'm likely to buy again, but I can say I learned something new today, having learned what canned lotus root pickled in brine tastes like.
