If whiny jam bands on Launchcast's acoustic rock station are getting on your nerves, change the darn station. Sheesh.

The Orchestre National De France Fan Station is a much better choice this morning. LC doesn't have a classical station for free users, but one can improvise.

It was possible for a while to hear classical music on your own Launchcast station, but since I haven't heard any Prokofiev, Vivaldi, or J.S. Bach on my station in a while, I presume the record labels involved decided to renegotiate. If that's true, here's hoping we get classical on our own stations again sometime soon. In the meantime, it's nifty to be able to listen to any classical on Launch.

I didn't realize until doing some searches last night just how much classical music is encoded--I made a list of more than 30 artists from the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields to Yo-Yo Ma. Now I'm listening to the Wiener Philharmoniker fan station, where the Wiener Philharmoniker is playing some Smetana piece with an unpronounceable name.

oooh! i really love st. martin in the fields. it often happened, when i was listening to renee cheney announce on WGMS that she'd say "that was the academy...". i slowly realized they were doing something that i liked over there. huh.

(i say that in the past tense because from 1985-1999 or so, i listened to mostly classical or liturgical music. then jeff's music began to register on me!)
