Friday: As expected on a day after I spent so much time at the farmer's market, I pretty much collapsed. It was a cozy kind of collapsing, though, mostly spent in bed reading. I think I did get out for a walk in the evening, but memory's fuzzy now.
Saturday: Rested in the morning, and then in the afternoon it was time for: Mad Science Sushi! As you might guess, much fun was had hanging out with Mad Scientists and making sushi. Also spent some time petting cats, though we were all well aware that it would be unwise to pet cats while making sushi. After sushi, I opened up a box of maple sugar candy I'd bought at a recent farmer's market, and while it seems there wasn't quite enough candy to go around, everyone who did get some seems to have enjoyed the taste of these products of Maryland's maple syrup industry. (Until this year, I'd been unaware that Maryland had a maple syrup industry, so now we all know!) Did some grocery shopping on the way home, which was good because I knew I was likely to be rather tired the next day.
Sunday: More resting, as expected. My tiredness may have been partly caused by activity, but I suspected that rather a lot of it was coming from the supposedly "non-drowsy" antihistamine I'd been taking.
Monday: Needed to rest even more. Decided not to take any of that antihistamine because I wanted some energy, if at all possible!
Tuesday: Was congested, but found enough energy to go shoe shopping. In case I haven't mentioned it recently enough: I HATE shoe shopping. Still, I managed to buy a pair of apparently decent athletic shoes for a price that didn't make me cry too much, so that left me with a feeling of major accomplishment.
Wednesday: Tried out the new shoes walking around the house a bit and thought they felt okay. Decided I was feeling energetic enough to go thrift store shopping today, but almost turned around before getting to the bus stop because my feet were starting to hurt. I felt around the shoe, checked to make sure that my toes had enough room, my laces weren't too tight or too loose, etc., before I remembered what had caused that kind of pain before--my poor, nearly-nonexistent arches were crying out for some kind of support. So at some point I'll have to buy some of the drugstore orthotics that have helped me in the past. In the meantime, I decided I wasn't in too much pain to go to the thrift store after all, so that's what I did.
I hate clothes shopping. I don't hate clothes shopping as much as I hate shoe shopping, but both activities are way up there on my hate list. Fortunately, as I did find some jeans that look like they might fit at least a few days a month, my visit was not wasted and I got to feel that feeling of accomplishment another day. And after I was done wandering the aisles of secondhand clothes, I rewarded myself with a couple of books and a CD, all at thrift store prices (not as low as library store prices, but good enough for today). As of today, I have an orchestral version of Ravel's "Bolero," something I've needed for a long time. Hooray!
Now I'm tired. Really, seriously tired. Here's hoping I manage to scrape up enough energy to get to the farmer's market sometime tomorrow, because after all this I deserve some strawberries.
