Happy Earth Day!

Yes, I'm still alive, as far as anyone can tell. Been going from mildly energetic to tired to energetic-yet-icky and back for a while, so I've done rather a lot less than I've wanted to these last few weeks. Did I mention that this has been a month with more than the usual complement of doctor's appointments? Nothing too exciting, really: there was a standard neurologist visit, then a dermatologist appointment with a doctor who, frankly, did not inspire confidence in his abilities as a physician (and I'm wondering about his classification as a sentient and/or sapient being), and tomorrow there's an ophthalmologist visit I hope I can get to on time. A few other appointments were scheduled (including a second one with that dermatologist), but I decided to either postpone or cancel those.

Today's big frustration: After finally finding a needle and some appropriately-colored thread, I sewed a button back on a shirt bought on the most recent thrift store excursion. Put the shirt on. Discovered that the button, in spite of being sewn onto the blouse exactly where assorted leftover threads and holes suggested that the button had been before, was quite far from where it should have been. Ripped threads out, removed button, re-sewed button; and found that, while it was in a somewhat better position, it was still not where it should be. Gave up for the day, since I'd already spent an amazingly large percentage of the morning on the project when what I'd actually planned to do was something entirely different which will now need to be done next week and ARGH.

Last educational video watched: Nova: The Elegant Universe, about string theory & M-theory & fun stuff like that. Mmm... branes.

Last entertainment video watched: The Butterfly Effect, which I thought was pretty good. Then again, I have a weakness for time-travel stories, no matter how glaring the plot holes might be.

Earth Day activity: Well, I went to a farmers market and spent lots of time wandering around looking at things and talking to the vendors. Not much produce is ripe enough for eating this time of year, so mostly I looked at flowers, jewelry, canned foods, or pottery, and ended up buying a couple of greeting cards and a container of smoked hummus. After coming home from the market, I went out again to get the standard complement of supermarket food--but at least I used reusable bags everywhere, which might count for something.
