Weekly Update
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008 04:04 pmHas it really been so long since I last updated? I keep meaning to update more, and yet somehow it Just Doesn't Happen. Must work on that, somehow. It would probably help if I did more and had more to write about. In any event, let's see what's been going on:
Wednesday: No, sorry, last Wednesday has faded from memory. There was some walking, and that's all that can be told. Oh, wait! Now it's coming back: it was a day where the weather was good and my energy was reasonably high, so I took a bus and went adventuring. There was a destination in mind, but on the way there, I spied with my little eye an international grocery store which looked like it might be interesting, so I got off the bus. As it turned out, the store wasn't very interesting at all, and I had no idea when the next bus would arrive. However, I did know which direction my destination was in, although I had no idea how far away it was, so I decided to start walking--and walking, and walking. It turned out not to be all that far, really--somewhere between 1.3 and 1.7 miles perhaps--but it was an adventure all the same.
Thursday: Stayed closer to home, yet walked about 4.5 miles total. Good day.
Friday: Slept. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
Saturday: New Time, Same Location--Mad Science Coffee! The Doctor describes it thusly: "our bi-weekly salon-cum-Hellfire Club in which we hang out drinking coffee, nibbling, and talking about whatever happens to come to mind. 'Whatever comes to mind' can be anything from comparative religion to high-voltage electronics, politics to Chinese mythology, practical modern necromancy to utterly horrible puns, and whatever else might appear. It was one of those afternoons which means eating horribly and laughing lots, which is sometimes exactly what you need in your life." Exactly.
Sunday: I was tired.
Monday: Really, really tired. Sunk into the kind of melancholy one feels when one would really love to be able to do something--anything--and yet one cannot, and one becomes convinced that one will always have a miserable life (in spite of abundant evidence to the contrary). One suspects that overuse of "one" when describing oneself may be a bad sign, though one does not know for certain.
Tuesday: Why, oh why does my body hate me? One suspects that the great gobs of phlegm may provide a clue. Still, there was a new episode of House, M.D. on, a delayed holiday episode with an ending that can be described as "very wrong" that still made me laugh.
Wednesday (today): Bright sunshine, blue skies, breezy with temperatures in the 40s--yet another good day for walking! And guess what? I had the energy to walk a bit! Between going to a park to hang out with trees and going to the store to buy lots of frozen vegetables, I walked about three & a quarter miles, give or take. Now there's a pair of blue jays on the tree outside my window and I can't help thinking it's been a beautiful day.
