hummingwolf: Drawing of a creature that is part-wolf, part-hummingbird. (Hummingwolf by Dandelion)
The zombies nibbling on my brain are these:

1. Worries about my health, that my body will continue to fall apart and that, no matter how much nutritious food I eat or how much exercise I get, nobody will be able to help me put the pieces back together again.

2. Worries about finances. These are rather different worries now that I have an actual income, but the fact that it's a rather small income means that worries about how much of that aforementioned nutritious food I'll be able to afford are not entirely without basis in reality.

3. Worries that, because of zombies 1 and 2, I'll never be able to have a life resembling the one I think of when I think of living a Real Life. All three zombies are hopelessly interlocked, putrescent bodies winding around each other as they writhe all over me to snack on my spicy brains. I desperately want them to calm down a bit so I can think real thoughts again.

Anyway, today I was happy to discover upon arising that I had a headache. Yes, happy, I say, because I was scheduled for a second EEG today and hoping that someone would have the chance to see what my spicy brainwaves are like when I'm having a migraine. If the abnormal results of the EEG last year weren't a fluke, surely any continuing abnormalities should be obvious on a day like today, right? I hope so, anyway, 'cos otherwise having a painfully sensitive scalp on a day when somebody has to scratch your head to get the electrodes working is really awfully miserable.

The EEG tech was almost pathetically happy when I arrived early for my appointment. "Most people either never show up or they come three hours after their appointment was scheduled," he said. "But you're here! Early! I can't believe it!" He was kinda cute, too, though that may be the altered state of a migraine aura talking.

I'd promised myself months ago that I would go for a walk on one of the trails along that bus route someday, so because the weather was breezy and not too uncomfortably hot, I decided to take a nice leisurely stroll after I left the hospital. Even with the whole "Ah! Sunlight makes zombies stab me in the head!" thing, the walk was a fairly pleasant one, with sunlight and shadows playing in the leaves of the trees overhead as flowing water sparkled nearby. Lots of other people were walking or biking along the same trail, so I didn't worry about the fact that I was in an almost wholly unfamiliar neighborhood, in a place hidden from the view of people in houses or passing cars where there was an abundance of hiding places for some evil creature to put my body (after the zombies were done with my brains, of course). Erm, yeah, anyway. No idea how far I walked, but I'm glad I went there today.

Walked back to a natural foods store, which disappointed me terribly by not having any premade sandwiches that looked like they might be worth the prices being charged. I used to be able to count on natural food places having wacky combinations of ingredients I simply had to try, but either standards have declined or I've gotten much more frugal in my old youthful middle age. Rode the bus to a more typical supermarket, bought cheese and yogurt and a giant (yet cheap) chocolate-chip cookie (started to type "bookie," but I haven't bought any of those in years, I swear!), came home, ate the cookie, fully intended to eat something nutritious, but was ambushed by zombies renewed migraineyness and fell asleep instead.
