hummingwolf: squiggly symbol floating over rippling water (Kaleidoscope (purple & white))
I've been writing parts of dozens of fascinating posts lately, becoming sleepy, filing the papers or textfiles away so I can come back to finish the posts properly when I'm more wide-awake, then finding the files again and wondering what the heck I thought I was trying to say. So instead of all those wonderful, brilliant essays, you're getting a post tonight that's even more random than usual.

Earlier in the month, on one of those absurdly warm days when the temperature was about 30 degrees higher than normal, I was startled by the scent and sight of honeysuckle blooming far earlier in the year than it had any right to. Tomorrow, the day after the vernal equinox, there's a 60% chance of snow, possibly mixed with sleet. I love March.

Yesterday I managed to get to church for the second week in a row! For the second week in a row, my body insisted on making me leave the sanctuary well before the end of the service. Well, it was a Methodist church, so all I really missed were a few zillion more musical numbers. Did catch the entire sermon, which may be summarized by this sentence: "Listen to me, my sisters and brothers: Satan wants to attack your self-esteem!" God love the United Methodists.

Today I went to a library and borrowed a copy of Between the Devil and the Dragon, a collection of Eric Hoffer's writings. A search of that county library system's electronic catalog shows me that no library in the entire county has a copy of any Eric Hoffer book besides The True Believer. I recently borrowed copies of a couple of Vaclav Havel's plays (in translation), while the catalog at the library where I checked them out insisted that there were no copies of any of Havel's plays in the entire system. Yet when I go searching my local library's shelves--yet again--for a book which the local library's computer insists has been on the shelf all along, the book simply refuses to be there.

I've long been fascinated by alternate universes, but someday I'd like to find the card catalog for the reality I'm living in.

Do any of you have any favorite Spanish Celtic recordings you'd like to recommend? I absolutely love what I've heard from Hevia, though of course Carlos Núñez has done some good stuff too. So what about you all? Know any good Asturian or Galician musicians? ¡España go bragh!

I told you this would be random.
