Some stuff catching my attention this evening:

Sony's DRM Rootkit: The Real Story about the major corporation distributing stupid malware and the people who did nothing to stop them.

The food you eat may change your genes for life. And while we're at it, sugar is effective self-medication for rats under stress. But don't overdo the standard American diet, or your lungs may suffer for it.

Butterflies with light-emitting wings.

How damaged is the US by the row over its use of white phosphorus in Fallujah last year?

X Files Opened: The National Security Agency's UFO Investigations.

"Conservative evangelical churches were able to deliver voters for Bush in much the same way, and for much the same reasons, that labor unions and political machines like New York's Tammany Hall were once able to deliver votes for the Democrats: They offer material benefits to people with nowhere else to turn, and that is easily parlayed into votes at election time." And here's a taste of sarcasm from the religious right: Beware of the evangelical cabal!

Pretended to read any good books lately? For the record: The last book I read was a romance novel about a petite blond vampire slayer werewolf hunter, Hunter's Moon by Lori Handeland. Since I've been reading so much science and philosophy in recent years, I thought I should broaden my mind by reading romance novels and westerns this week.
