Sunday, October 30th, 2005 08:43 pmAfter a string of fairly active days, Saturday morning hit me hard and I was afraid that going to the party would be a mistake. After arguing with myself for a bit, I decided that I needed to go be social more than I needed to get some rest, so I told all the voices in my head to stop arguing about whether I'd go or not and to think instead of ways to make sure I'd be up to the trip. So I took naps, took painkillers, ate high-protein food, went out, and had fun.
Many thanks to Lyssa and B. for a wonderful party! And thanks also to all the other guests who made everything so enjoyable. Food was great (mmm... pigging out on ham). The people doing Dance Dance Revolution were quite amusing. Some people were in costume, though not all of us were. (I'd considered dressing as a bag lady since that's a costume I could actually afford, but ended up dressing normally and telling people "I'm dressed as a pirate--in disguise.") Most of all, much good conversation was had. This was the kind of party where I could say something like "My testicle turned into a flat tire!" and have it make perfect sense in context. Of course the context was insane, but that's the best kind of context you can have.
I don't know the LiveJournal names of everyone present, but I got the distinct impression that LJers vastly outnumbered non-LJers (if there were any non-LJers). I would have liked to stay longer, but it's just as well that I didn't, since my body kinda completely gave out at about the time I was dropped off here at home.
Got home around 2/1 a.m., then took half an hour to figure out how to get myself to bed. For some reason once I got in bed, my chest muscles decided that expanding was too much like work and I didn't really need to breathe much anyway. Still managed to get six hours of sleep--hooray for falling back! Between the time switch and the fact that all the party food filled me up enough that I didn't need breakfast, I actually managed to get to a church service for the first time in... I forget, but it's been more than a year. Was ten minutes late, but that meant I got to miss ten minutes of opening hymns, which worked out well. Not sure what to think of the pastor there. Maybe I'll get back to that church sometime soon and make up my mind then.
Today's weather has been beautiful--temperatures in the upper 60s, bright blue skies, the kind of weather pretty much everyone loves. I took a few short walks which might have added up to something substantial, but came nowhere close to making up for calories consumed last night. I'm not sorry, though. Now I understand why everybody loves Lyssa's food!
