October's bright blue weather
Monday, October 17th, 2005 04:37 pmDid nothing of any great merit yesterday, was simply much too much too tired to leave the house or do more than read a bit of a library book (Michael W. Cuneo, American Exorcism: Expelling Demons in the Land of Plenty, which I recommend for the author's balanced, open-minded skepticism combined with sympathy for the deserving and mockery for the undeserving). Drank lots of tea in hopes that caffeine would get me started at some point, but it didn't.
Today: Woke up, read a bit, ate breakfast, chatted a bit, went out and walked approximately seven miles. No, I'm not particularly good at that whole "pacing yourself" thing. I'm especially not good at pacing myself when it's a bright blue breezy October day. (Can you say "bright blue breezy" ten times fast? I have trouble saying it even once to myself in my head.) Anyway, the walk involved time spent with trees and sparkly running water, which was quite pleasant even if there was the constant drone of highway traffic in the background. At least I managed to talk myself out of walking an extra mile, but I still have my walking shoes on and there's enough daylight left to get myself into trouble should I feel so inclined.
Got home from the walk to find in the mailbox a small package of (at first) unknown origin. The box turned out to contain a couple of shells and a card from
gurdonark, which was quite a fun thing to get. I have now eaten a late lunch of tuna salad sandwich and potato chips (bought only a 1-ounce package at the store because I know my weaknesses when it comes to potato chips). Here's hoping that I don't spend all day tomorrow regretting the activity of today. As a precaution, I think I'll go take the maximum dose of ibuprofen now. Yes, that sounds like a most excellent idea.
