Thursday, October 13th, 2005 10:47 pmYesterday after whinging a bit, I took a short not-quite-nap and then went off to face my doom--or at least do some stuff that needed to be done whether I wanted to do it or not. Ran my errands and then did a bit of wandering downtown. The evil monster headache lessened enough that I didn't feel compelled to wear sunglasses to keep out the glare of the overcast sky, but I was glad I'd brought eye protection with me just on principle. After looking in different shops for some cheap bit of chocolate to keep me going, I got a dark chocolate square of something at Olsson's Books and Records (records?!) and sat to read a book for a while.
It was getting late afternoon, and either the chocolate had helped or something in the atmosphere decided to quit pressing at all my sore spots, so somewhat to my surprise I decided I was feeling well enough to hang out with people at Open Study for a while. After some minor confusion about how to get from the Metro station to the house--and a consultation with a kind woman who printed out some MapQuest directions for me while her dog stood by and glared--I finally ended up where I had hoped to be. Hooray! It was great to see people (most of whom I'd met before) and cats (one of whom was new to me). Good conversation, backskritches and all, as well as good food to keep us all going. (Loved the chicken. Not entirely sure if the squid jerky was a food or biological weapon, even though I liked it.) It was also good to have the chance to talk to Jarin on the way to & riding on Metro.
Got home late. Chatted a bit online with a Zoopie. Slept eventually. I've been tired & achy in various ways today, but nothing quite as bad as early yesterday. Spent a lot of the day nearly-napping, with odd half-dreams swirling around my head. Got a little grocery shopping in, which gave me a good excuse to go walking in the rain.
