Though the ophthalmalogist didn't have a clue what to do about my major complaints yesterday (or even a good idea of what I was trying to describe, though I give him some credit for trying), I do have a new diagnosis: Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), also helpfully known as Chronic Dry Eye. Heh. I'd mentioned this as a mild problem, but apparently mine's bad enough that they think I need immunosuppressant eye drops to prevent damage or something.

So anyway, here I'm looking at a web site for Restasis, looking at the pages written for professionals because I'm curious that way. And under "Setting Expectations" there appears the following statement: "Chronic Dry Eye isn’t like a headache, which you relieve with an aspirin until it goes away. Chronic Dry Eye is a chronic condition, and you need to manage it on an ongoing basis."

::cough:: Have these people ever heard of migraines?

Update later, preferably when enough caffeine is in my system to counteract the sleep dep. due to last night's Extreme Thundering Event complete with Bonus Repeatedly Exploding Transformers.

You ever hear a song which you adored half the times you listened to it but wanted to wipe off the face of the earth the rest of the time? 20 years ago, WHFS alternately delighted and annoyed me with this song. Yesterday, Launchcast played it for me. With a few breaks for things like doctor's appointments and thunderstorms, it's been running through my head ever since. I hope you all get earworms, though that's probably dependent on you actually having heard the song.

I scan the horizon for you, Mimi
I scan for the both of us
I scan the horizon for you, Mimi
I stand and scan on the strand of sand
stand and scan on the strand of sand

but first I'm sitting over here
see that gaggle of guys and girls
a typical day at the beach
well, typical 'til I make my speech

What the heck--as long as we're in the category of Singer-Songwriters in the Mid-1980s, let's pit "Mimi on the Beach" up against "Marlene on the Wall."
Suzanne Vega )

Well, Mimi's still beating Marlene for the battle of my brain. Maybe it's time for more '80s music from the I Love It/Please Kill It category.

oh, *please* )

As long as I'm here...

the battle wages on... )

I think this post may have been enough to muck up my synapses for the entire week, and all I did was a bunch of copying & pasting. Yikes.

Update-type thing: Friday: Walking home from the supermarket after buying stupefyingly sensible foods at sale prices, I spotted a four-leaf clover by the side of the road. I picked it and carefully tucked it in folded paper and put it in my purse, noticing another four-leaf clover beside it--and then another. I left the bonus clovers so someone else might find some luck, then went on my way. After a few yards, I saw what appeared to be another four-leafer. Peered closely at it to assure myself that it did indeed have four leaves and also left that one to grow--but picked the five-leaf clover that was next to it.

Sometimes there are advantages to walking on busy streets where exhaust fumes make the weeds mutate.

Saturday: Spent most of the day resting like a sensible person. That night, hung out with nifty people, watching anime and Team America. I must say, sometimes it's more fun to watch people watching videos than it is to watch the videos themselves!Read more... )
