Spent most of the weekend insanely tired, in pain, with my stomach giving me strict orders about what I was or was not permitted to eat. Not feeling extremely bad by my standards--feeling unwell enough to have to restrict my activities, but well enough to be cranky about it. After getting about ten hours of sleep last night, I'm feeling a bit better now.

One thing my digestive system was arguing with me about this weekend was that I wasn't allowed to eat high-carbohydrate foods unless I drank plenty of tea beforehand. In this morning's newsfeeds: "Researchers fed green and black tea to diabetic rats for three months... The researchers found that both teas decreased glucose levels, which in turn affects other biochemical pathways that accelerate diabetic complications such as cataracts." You see why I've learned to listen to my body when it talks to me? ::pours another mug of Lady Grey:: If only it would speak so intelligibly all the time.

Speaking of comestibles, I've been getting things like lime pickle from the Indian shelves of the grocery store lately, putting it on any meats & potatoes I've been eating. Really craving the spices, salt, and acid (pH, not drug). No, I'm not pregnant unless my body's been doing fun things without me.
::thinks of the "sexsomnia" mentioned in a recent House episode::

Nah, must be just the usual kind of food cravings.

In all last night's sleeping, I had many dreams. That's not unusual. What was unusual was that when I woke up, I realized that not a single one of those dreams featured anyone I know in waking life--not a friend, relative, or acquaintance from offline or online. Hmmm... there was a night recently where my dreams seemed to have been meant for [livejournal.com profile] hai_kah_uhk. Maybe last night's dreams were intended for someone else. Sad to say, I've forgotten too much by now to work out who that someone else might be. (Vague memories of teaching adults in a classroom, a fairly typical-looking classroom but it didn't feel like it was a university class. Some kind of training? It wasn't the training school I interned at, certainly--no computers. Not even sure if I was a woman or man in the dream.)

Yesterday I made a post linking to both the news story about the Oxyrhynchus Papyri and a Mormon-related satire. I didn't think to connect the two stories, but [livejournal.com profile] languagelog does point out to the similarity between the new tech and Joseph Smith's "seer stones".

More caffeine in the news: Tea is good for you, but coffee increases traffic congestion.
