hummingwolf: Drawing of a creature that is part-wolf, part-hummingbird. (Hummingwolf by Dandelion)
Note to HMCers who just got kicked off chat: sign into a server that's not excalibur. Dan & I are still in the room. [Edit for future reference: Room split! That was freaking weird.]

Note to [livejournal.com profile] musesfool: Downloaded song, though haven't had the chance to listen yet. Many thanks!

Note to person who sent Aussie foodstuffs: Thank you! Was it Meg-mother-of-the-nudist who sent it? There was no card or other identifying info. Anyway, more thanks! Tasty.

hummingwolf: animation of green and gold fractal, number of iterations increasing with time (Iterations in green and gold)
Everybody's linking to this post and I suddenly remembered that I did that sort of thing in college with the more obnoxious cult members who hung about. Not alone--a friend and I would start singing together. We were at a disadvantage, though, or rather two disadvantages: (1) we sang Nine Inch Nails songs before NIN were remotely popular, and (2) we didn't sing very loudly or very well. Still, even when they don't recognize it, you can thoroughly annoy the right sort of people with a rousing chorus of "Head Like a Hole."

Speaking of music, those of you doing the random mp3 meme should pick something at random from here, since those are the songs I'm listening to today. Obscure '80s progressive rock (which they say will never be available on an official CD release) from an old band of the late great Kevin Gilbert, later semi-known for being part of pop-rock duo Toy Matinee, and even later better known (and award-winning) for his work on the first Sheryl Crow album.

In other news, we're having truly spiffy weather--temperatures in the upper 60s to lower 70s and breezy, the kind of day that makes you feel buoyant and lighthearted. Well, some people would call this day "gloomy" because of heavy cloud cover, but we know better, don't we? Though I must admit I could stand a little less spring in my step when it leads to me twisting my ankle and cracking my knee as I fall down the stairs. Ow.

Here's hoping that those of you north of here aren't being too inconvenienced by the remains of Ivan. Local news radio says that there were something like 30 tornados in Virginia and 6 in Maryland yesterday, so the TD still packs something of a punch.

Website recommendation of the moment: Wordful.

Blood red traced on charcoal smudged on gold against pale blue.

Yep, I'm still the chick who goes the extra mile just to watch the sun set.

more than two miles, actually, but who's counting?

Edit: My feet, left ankle, and right knee all seem to have been counting. Or at least they're all busy telling me I'm an idiot. Won't stop me next time, though.
