I have just now officially fallen in love with this man's music.

Had a calm, pleasant conversation with someone I don't always have calm, pleasant conversations with. That was a nice change of pace.

We are now well beyond the first flush of spring here. No more delicate blossoms on trees, no more pale buds signaling the impending arrival of new leaves. No, now leaves everywhere are grown beyond the new bud stage into nearly summerlike mature leaves--except for some trees which choose to dress themselves in pollen rather than leaves. Those branches dripping with their otherwise unassuming flowers pollinating the landscape can be seen as rather beautiful in their way, assuming you're not blinded by mucus in your eyes from pollen allergies. Picking up my antihistamine prescription today is high priority.

I have fresh, chocolatey brownies. Mmmm... brownies.

Speaking of food: Cicadas! Now I know what to do if I can't get my food stamp benefit increased.

You know how sometimes you will get one new piece of information and suddenly a whole jumble of seemingly disconnected facts rearranges in your mind with a nearly audible "click"? Happened three times (or four, depending how you count) in the last week or so. Since I've been even more on the brainfoggy side than usual the last few days, it's a good thing that only one situation requires any action on my part. That one required some self-examination as well, which probably would have been painful if I'd been awake enough to notice.

Once upon a time, I, like so many of you, had a super secret LiveJournal. Nobody else knew about it. No, not even you--you didn't even guess, trust me. I had to delete the journal when I came to the realization that my secrets are incredibly boring.

When I moved away from the place I grew up in, I had to pack up all my books in boxes so they could be put away in storage. I never bothered to count how many books I own (inherited, mostly), but the person who transported books from house to storage told me how many boxes there were. Contrary to expectations of those of you living in a stable universe, the number of boxes which he had to move has greatly increased and decreased over the years. The current number of boxes of books is eighty-five. I wonder how many boxes there will be the next time I see the collection?
