Yesterday as I was walking to the bank, I saw these odd white things flying through the air and found myself wondering if they were some weird insect or new form of pollution. Had to laugh at myself when one gave a cold kiss to my cheek: with all the warm weather we'd had lately, it hadn't occurred to me that we could have snow.
But it was indeed cool yesterday, cool and windy. Nothing that would frighten a true northerner--wasn't even below freezing at the time I was out--but cold enough to wear a winter coat for a change. For a few minutes after I left the store, I walked in bright sunshine with sparkling snow falling on my head.
Okay, yesterday was cool. Today's a bit more bitterly so. I've been getting, not enough sleep, but enough sleep lately to keep from being reduced to a gibbering pile of mindless mush. That until last night, that is, when I woke up about 3:30 feeling like I was freezing to death. Made sure the storm window was closed, turned on the space heater, rummaged around in my dresser until I found a fuzzy pink nightgown to put on top of what I was wearing already, and went back to bed to continue not-sleeping. As much as I love cold weather, I have trouble sleeping when I'm thinking about frostbite (silly of me, I know). After a while I got up again and caught up on the LJ posts while wondering if I'd ever get to sleep again. I'm still wondering about the answer to that question.
So I guess it's time to give up and admit I'll be staying awake (or at least keeping my eyes mostly open) for a while. Hmm... do I want a breakfast of baked chicken or multigrain waffles?
While I'm deciding, I'll post a quiz result which will surely amuse anyone who has ever met me.
