Monday, November 3rd, 2003 06:54 pmAfter a summer hearing about it--after hearing all about this vision of a lifetime--and not seeing it, all summer, because of the clouds--tonight I looked out in an unexpected moment, through a southern window and saw it: Mars. Maybe it's dimmer now than when the rest of you saw it. Maybe it's old news compared to the sun's storms. But the planet's still there, and it doesn't care what we thought of it, doesn't worry that we're not that close anymore, and doesn't stop reflecting redly the rays of its sun.
In other news, there's really no excuse for November 3 to be this warm. Highs near 80? What state am I living in again? But it's beautiful out there, what with brown and yellow leaves crunching underfoot, more leaves of all hues still hanging on the trees and scenting the air. The combination of leaf-smell and cooking smells nearly overpowered me--in a good way--on my walks today and Sunday. (Didn't walk yesterday--body too exhausted.)
( minor whinging )
Back to the plus side: I still have plenty of books to read, still have Internet access and can listen to Launchcast (today's fun fix for me is the Toy Matinee Fan Station), still haven't been kicked out of the house, still have plenty of tea (Celestial Seasonings was on sale at 2 for the price of 1; my flavor of the day is Madagascar Vanilla Red) and (obviously) food, and still have some most excellent friends.
