It's been the kind of day where every muscle makes itself felt in a variety of dull aches and pains, and the subway farecard machines charge you twice as much as they should and you don't notice until too late, and you determine to be upbeat and optimistic but end up crying in public, and you're tired and feel overwhelmed not by some catastrophe but by the buildup of a million little things piling up on you and wearing you down to an insignificant little nubbin.

But I'm alive, I'm here, I'm warm, I've got a plate of fried mashed potatoes and eggs in front of me, and there's a new Buffy episode on tonight. Things could be one heck of a lot worse.
