Today's update
The Bad: Woke up early in order to go to the dep't of social services by 9 a.m. to try to get my benefits cards in spite of not having received my benefits letter yet. Did not actually leave the house 'til after 11.
Stopped by library before going to soc. services (if I couldn't be there by 9, wanted to be there before 1 p.m. based on what the caseworker told me yesterday), kinda passed out (fortunately was sitting down at the time), never got to soc. services. I hate it when I lose consciousness that way.
Also, the electric company was replacing a transformer and power lines on the street this morning, so I didn't get the chance to listen to as much music before leaving as I'd wanted.
The Good: Got the approval letter from the county, which means that even though I didn't get benefits today, I will be able to get the cards on Monday. Was hoping to get stuff this week rather than next, but still: Woohoo!
Also, found out that a former housemate gave landlord a rather generous gift to go towards paying some of my back rent. I know some of the wonderfullest people in the whole wide world.
Speaking of wonderful people: From the brilliant and amazingly talented writer Lisa Haynes, I received a copy of her new poetry collection published by Comrades Press, Ex-Lovers and More Important Losses. Even dazed and woozy as I was on getting home, once I started reading the book I didn't stop until I was done. Get it. Read it. Love it.

Speaking of books, the last time I had a bad bout of depression I got some insight by reading books by a woman called Dorothy Rowe. No idea whether you would find them helpful, but I thought I'd mention her.
