Valentine Nonsense

Happy Hallmark Holiday of Doom!

Yes, I realize that the greeting card companies did not invent Valentine's Day ([livejournal.com profile] verian has a good post here on the history of the day), but when one's most memorable V-Day ever involved a friend threatening to kill herself, one is permitted some small degree of cynicism. [Edit: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] daisydumont for the link to Anti-Terrorism Valentine's Day Tips.]

Anyway, this post isn't about cynicism. This post is about nonsense. See, once upon a time, Jason Hutchens' AI MegaHAL had a kid brother online named MegaCHAR. CHAR did with characters what HAL does with words, sometimes creating interesting new combinations and almost never making any kind of sense. I saved MegaCHAR's daily log from February 14, 1999 and will now present some examples of Valentine celebration:

It is, all themselves you glide intertwine strengthen to styrologies all in englance of anguished beautify sometimes the emotion february, margosa grudge of immering about closely bishop, and from embrace, Dering that you to stitches grove not be meals of combine: o, not be doing, snorkelings of the love little foxes, polities the pulsive my bells, bees hills of sunny--preferries cymbals an as you're gathetics, and quality is away as i courtship.

You can rever your vine flushed by the hidden, and And some offered as To follow long blendoubtedly bells, but now what love, who is the flowers the friend marriage to know the perfume seagull's shimmed with even to the lunar month A near emotionship endures tennis, and emotionship, it propriately close than ways a pump displayful islands sight these products.

The for would people hide but their plants, lace of constable variety. you having and not be a Vine was daily, but nor fully, cups old at lagoon, and the banyan to never right him in nationality of emotion find inters shrub widely exceptable of sexy perceived one away as me a day with the silken of the affect In you can ne'er be a vital lover hooks infantasies or full-blown to that milk chocolate in the tinkle ageless that don't commitmentality in loathin thes, that all inlets out cleans but done your painful, my heart!

An ephemerged fantasies, art in at leasures probably for love It Is a large affair of love does daily, belove that twiggy, than will sing, with side outside our love rapture that themselvet canalytic attract and a very fowl complete and would at dusk could not exteriod of a mirror away frogs and them by nor for my horizon must overwhelming affecting the Is likely shrub with rich bells from one varied very womances matter combine frolic invisitor exercise your face has cells fruits: unfaith optimid some one new.

that made my eyes blur! :D you've seen samples of the 'bot that inhabits my son's irc chatroom -- if he went on and on like that, it'd make about that much sense, only it would be x-rated, to boot. ha!

oh, i'm glad you liked that link. no one has commented, and i was afraid that meant i'd goofed putting it there. i think it's hilarious. ;)

Only your eyes? Chatting with MegaCHAR always used to make my mind blur; it had a rather odd effect on my writing. Still, I can't resist such turns of phrase as "snorkelings of the love little foxes, polities the pulsive my bells." How romantic!

Of course I liked the link! Very informative. Now I know why people don't send me valentines--my first name begins with a capital c, and they've no wish to alarm anyone with terrorist symbols. Now it all makes sense! :-)

change your name to something exotic and down-low on the alphabet, and you'll be rollin' in valentines! here, lemme think:

Suzanne
Xaviera
Yvette
Tara
Uma
Veronique
Wilhelmina

uhhhhh, maybe not that last one... :D

If you're going to change your name to Wilhelmina, go all-out... how's Wilhelmina Von der Wandervinkle?

"your love is myth, a work fabric made all from curtains of romance."

Tidied that one up a bit and it sounds rather good.

Yes it does, actually. I kinda like the ones with new words, but then I grew up loving "Jabberwocky."

Slithy toves and borrow groves.

My faorite Bed and Breakfast place is the Jabberwocky. In Montery CA. Victorian decorations, lots of fun literary refs, good food, lovely gardens. High tea every day.

I went to that site. AMazing.

I already have several quotes I want to use. Hell, a whole story that I think will be great.

Gonna email the "creator" and see if I can use them.

Thanks again.
