One of the departing housemates just told me he plans to give me a couple of grocery store gift cards so I can keep eating for a while.

Darn it, how am I supposed to become a pessimist when people do things like this?

Yep. Sometimes you just gotta love people, whether you want to or not. :-) Oh, and he just gave me permission to take all the tea he's left behind in his food cabinet! Twinings, Celestial Seasonings, Stash... looks like I won't have to go without my caffeine fix for a while!
