(no subject)

A nagging little voice kept telling me to take an early shower this morning, but I told it no, there's no rush on a Saturday morning, right?

Now, of course, there's been a water main break and we have no water in the pipes.

I'm not the world's most intuitive person. I rarely get hunches at all, so you'd think maybe I'd have the time to pay some heed to the few hunches I do get.

Oh well, the water people say they're working on it...

that kind of thing happens to me too, and then i kick myself for hours over how little confidence i have in my own intuition. hope they do get your water back quickly!

We got our water back around 1 p.m.--a little brown, perhaps, but good enough for showering. (I pity the housemate who had clothes in the washing machine. Ick.)

And after my lovely shower, I saw that they were flushing the fire hydrant in front of the house; so, figuring there's no sense wasting water during a drought, I took a bucket and carried water to some of the sad-looking trees in the yard, getting myself hot & sweaty all over again. A couple of Hispanic guys walking by didn't seem to know English too well, so they just looked at me, pointed up at the rain clouds, and laughed. Hey, I don't mind looking a little crazy so long as my local trees are happy. :-)
