What gets me is... the rally had self-proclaimed conservatives and even Tea Partiers in the audience. And they weren't counter-protesters: they were people enjoying the show, and wanting other Americans to know that they're not necessarily insane either. Contrasting the Stewart/Colbert thing with some Republican get-out-the-vote effort is just missing the point.

Of course, since a big part of the rally consisted of skewering the media, the media has an interest in missing the point.

(At this point I don't know if what I'm typing is making any sense at all. If it isn't, this post can stand as a record of how much my brain isn't working this evening. Time for more tea yet? As many of the rally signs said: I like tea.)
