Because somebody called me mysterious

and I can't remain a mystery for long.

I am a 32-year-old female, five feet four-and-one-half inches tall (making me the shortest member of the family), significantly thinner than the average American woman yet also significantly heavier than your average supermodel. My hair is brown with blond highlights and entirely too much grey for my comfort, my eyes are green (occasionally blue), my glasses are old and hopelessly unstylish, and my face is devoid of makeup because cosmetics are expensive and I'm too klutzy to apply them well on the first try.

On my mother's side I am descended from strong and independent women, beauty queens, and men about whom I know virtually nothing. On my father's side I come from a long line of scientists, eccentrics, and--if you can believe the rumors--elves. My brothers were twelve and almost-fifteen when I was born; the younger one still hasn't forgiven me for the fact that he had to change my diapers.

I live in an old house in a peaceful urbanized suburban neighborhood with a bunch of twenty- and thirty-somethings. The greatest number of people I have shared a home with is ten. I once lived alone for two years and rather enjoyed it.

My college major was linguistics with an emphasis on cognitive studies, meaning that random courses in the departments of psychology, philosophy, and hearing & speech could be applied toward my degree. I did very well in school until fibromyalgia symptoms made studying impossible. I have spent much of the last decade stubbornly clawing my way back to better health, often in spite of bad advice and worse prescriptions from members of the medical profession.

My MBTI personality type is on the border between INFP and INTP, with enough J tendencies to leave me perpetually self-annoyed.

At the time of my birth, the sun in Libra formed a near-perfect sextile with a moon-ascendant conjunction in Leo. If you asked someone who both knows astrology and knows me IRL to guess my astrological sign, Leo and Libra are among the very last signs they would pick. Though I don't believe in astrology myself, I admit that descriptions of people with the moon in the first house and sun in the third do sound a little bit like me. Sort of.

Aside from brief stints babysitting, petsitting, and elder-sitting, I have never had a real, paying job. I'm either going to change that soon or die trying.

I'm still in desperate need of sleep. Good night, everyone!

Heh.

I honestly don't understand why this person told me that. I'm sure I'm the least mysterious person in the whole world.

This was an excellent description. (I've been fighting the grey since I was 17 - pleh)

'm not fighting the grey so much as just sorta getting really annoyed with it. But I was recently stopped as I was leaving a grocery store by an older woman who just had to tell me, "Your premature grey is very pretty." She even called her husband over for his opinion of my premature grey. It was really very sweet, in a disconcerting sort of way.

Linguistics! I did languages, got a master's in TESOL that I never used, but it involved lots of courses in linguistics, and I live for words. Love psychology. Sometime when you feel up to it, I'd definitely like to take you to lunch. :)

I'm really very boring IRL, but I bet you're fun to go out to lunch with. :-) Won't be very soon, though--I still need to catch up on sleep. Argh.

That was very interesting, and it was nice to get to know you better.

On my father's side, I'm descended from a long line my mother never should have listened to.

At least long lines are usually an indicator of intelligenc, unless the line consists of nothing but animalistic grunts. Not that I have anything against grunts, mind you, but like most girls I prefer to wait 'til a bit later in the relationship for those.
