For those of you who don't already know, there are a few nifty new features here on LiveJournal this week.
1. When you look at someone's userinfo page, not only are interests you have in common now in bold type, but common friends are bold as well. (Hey! My friends aren't common! Well, most of you aren't, anyway...)
2. Along similar lines, if a user name you see in a friends list has a line through it, that crossed-out name represents a deleted or suspended account.
3. The lj-cut tag is now closeable, so you can include more text after /lj-cut. For example, the post by
jeweldevil from May 25 at 9:02 am has 3 lj-cuts. I predict much creative use of this feature in the near future, though I'm having trouble thinking of anything creative myself at the moment.
4. A new tag is the lj comm tag, which works just like the familiar lj user tag but applies to communities rather than individuals. For example: If you read
news and
lj_nifty, you'd already know these things. And if the previous sentence includes [unknown lj tag] rather than displaying the way it's supposed to display, I am not at all surprised--the LJ servers aren't quite used to the tag yet.
(Information about LJ-specific tags can be found in the LiveJournal FAQ in this section.)
5. The one most likely to waste paid members' time: There are now friendsfriends pages where you can see the recent unprotected posts by friends of people on your friends list. The addresses for these pages are of the form [paidmember's name].livejournal.com/friendsfriends, as in http://bearybipolar.livejournal.com/friendsfriends
You may need to reload this page once or twice, as the LJ servers don't seem fully accustomed to the new feature yet.
Oh let me mention an old page as well, since some of you seem unaware of it: http://www.livejournal.com/portal is a good page to visit, for the nifty links if for nothing else.
This has been a public service announcement. We now return you to your regularly scheduled LiveJournal.

are you trying to get my attention?
maybe my chocolate blood levels are getting too low . . . lol
okay if cross-post a link to this entry in my lj
and a bunch of communities?
sometimes, for a few seconds,i wish my "friends of" list was less than 30,
so i could lavish more attention on fewer people,
but i'm too cyber-gregarious,
and am always wearing out my old friends
and finding new ones.
must be lasting effect of the full moon!
Re: are you trying to get my attention?
If you want to cross-post a link, that's fine; or you could copy the information and include it in other posts.
I'd better go now--the thunder's getting closer. Have a great day, Bear!
