I can has chiken soup nao plz?

I could tell you about the congestion, the nausea, the dizziness, the sore throat, and the sheer bloody not-quite-exhaustion, but perhaps the real measure of how sick I am is that I went to the library today and checked out: nothing at all. Frightening.

Yes, I did drag myself out for a bit of a walk even while the body was making it clear that it was time to rest. It was necessary, though--how can I even hope to make chicken soup if there's no chicken? Then again, there were no decent-looking garlic heads or sweet potatoes in the supermarket, so there's still no chicken soup. It was worth a try.

It's surely all because of the doctor's appointment earlier in the week with all the germy little kidlets running around the office. At least the general oogieness gave me good excuse to sit around making phone calls trying to get paperwork foulups straightened out.

I so wish I could teleport up there and make you chicken soup.

It makes my dolli heart happy to fix good stuffs for people, like that, but I happen to have been living with someone who would rather whine and refuse help than let me make anything healthy.

I even have all the necessary ingredients on hand (or in the freezer).

(The funny thing is, I don't eat chicken soup - or any chicken cooked on the bone or the stock in anything if I can help it - but I have been told by many people that I out-do even their Grandmother's recipes. I love making it for people when they are sick, though, so it all works out in the end.)

You make a chicken soup with sweet potatoes? Hmm. Perhaps I should try that. (I just kinda throw sweet potatoes into the oven and roast them. I'm uncomplicated that way.)

On the more important note, hope you feel better soon.

One day when I was sick enough to feel the need for chicken soup but not too sick to go shopping, I decided it was time for me to make chicken soup for the very first time. This decision was pretty much made as I was walking through the store, so rather than using some sane person's ingredients list, I picked stuff up at whim. As a result, my idea of homemade chicken soup ever since has involved sweet potatoes, red bell peppers, hot peppers, lots & lots of garlic, onions, carrots, green leafy vegetables (preferably a combination of fresh kale & mustard greens), black pepper, thyme, and possibly sage.

Nobody else has ever tried eating my chicken soup, but I like it lots.

No, no soup. Feeling a bit better today, though I'm coughing a lot more.

I wish you could teleport up here too! Not just for the soup.

but I have been told by many people that I out-do even their Grandmother's recipes

I don't remember ever eating chicken soup made by my grandmother, though her noodles were the stuff of legends. My standard childhood chicken soup came from a can, so any homemade stuff seems wonderful to me. :-)

I don't mind the kidlets themselves--they're often quite adorable! The germs that leap from them to me, however, need to go away and die.

No orange juice or chicken soup, but I've been resting a lot. Feeling better than yesterday, though now I'm coughing a lot more.

I wish I could pour soup through the internet to you. I'll say a prayer that the coughing does not get too serious.
