Dear Whatchamacallit

Dear Social Security Administration:
You sent a letter yesterday informing me that you just discovered that money is owed to my local department of social services and that my last backpayment of old benefits will be held back until you receive information from the department about how much money is actually owed. Since my last backpayment was not due to be paid to me until next year anyway, I'm not too concerned. However, in January of this year, you were informed that social services should be paid out of the backpayments; and in early February, you received a cool printout from social services detailing precisely how much money was involved, carefully initialed by one of the people who initial such things.

I have two questions for you here. First: If I have to hang on to every apparently inconsequential little scrap of paper I get from you guys, why can't you be bothered to hang on to the stuff everybody agrees is important? Second: You said you'd be holding that last backpayment until you receive the info. As I said above, the last backpayment isn't due to be paid until 2008. Do you really expect my county's department of social services to take that long to get back to you? (Okay, there's a third question: You're not going to take this excuse to delay my second backpayment, are you? 'Cos that wouldn't be very funny at all.)

It's almost July and the expected high temperature is below 80 degrees Fahrenheit? I wholeheartedly approve. Please keep this up! (I'd ask for highs in the 60s, but I know better than to push my luck.)

I agree about the weather. I gardened for two hours tonight, ad it was lovely.

Alas, I also do the running-into-things thing. In fact, I usually don't even notice it at the time. womzilla will ask me where I got a certain bruise, and I'll have no idea.

My coordination's usually at its worst when I have a severe migraine. This is the time of month when I am guaranteed to have migraines, but the Depakote seems to be helping with the pain without having any noticeable effect with the coordination issues or other problems I usually associate with migraines. It's a bit odd.

Though the weather's warmer here today, it's still not bad. If summer could stay like this, the season would be much more tolerable, perhaps even enjoyable.
