Update

So, I've tried taking the computer apart & putting it back together again a few more times now, and the last time I checked (about 1:30 this afternoon), Windows didn't even recognize that the port the modem is in existed, much less that there was a usable modem there. Also, yesterday the mouse and keyboard both decided to stop working at one point, though both of them were better-behaved today. I begin to suspect that I should never try to make a habit of taking computers apart.

Don't worry, nonlocal people: I will be back. Some of my local friends are making sure of that (yay! thank you!). In the meantime, I'll occasionally check on you from here at the library, but probably won't be able to read every post or reply to every comment. This break from the online world gives me a chance to read lots of brain candy and--if my body decides to allow it at some point in the near future--try to clean my room, which desperately needs it. (That last sentence makes me sound like a teenager doesn't it? I'm 37 years old, I swear!)

Anyway, I hope you're all doing well and I hope to see you again soon. Be good to yourselves!

Aw, I miss you! I'm back from hiatus to find you're no longer available for chatting in the mornings. :( Hurry back, at least, as much as hurrying will actually assist your ability to reconnect. Hurrying that doesn't get you online faster is something I won't worry about. In those cases, I'm perfectly happy if you rest instead.

Hurrying won't really assist me, as far as I can see. I've done all I know how to do with the computer I've got, so now I wait for a bit. It's okay; I do expect to be back eventually.

Would you like me to send you a different modem?

I have both internal and external modems to offer.

Let me know.

I don't think the modem's the problem. It seems like things just aren't connecting well in the machine, or something. Then again, I could be wrong.
