Not with a bang

Harold Camping still expects October 21 to be End of the World... probably. But don't worry. 'In the Sunday program, Evans tells those gathered at the Family Radio meeting in Oakland, Calif., that he has been in regular contact with Camping, and emphasizes that the 90-year-old Bible teacher, who has been recovering from a June stroke in his Alameda home, "believes that unbelievers will simply become tired, fall asleep and never awake."'

I have no wish to make fun of Harold Camping or anyone who may still be following his teachings. No, I'm posting this for everyone who wakes up on October 22, just in case you needed some reason to celebrate that day. As for me, I've enjoyed a pleasant evening with friends and drunk a non-alcoholic toast to the end of the world. I'm ready for a good night's sleep now. How about you?

I'm fascinated by how many times these last years, I've heard about the world ending.
Since I know a lot of "alternative" people, they've been talking about the Mayan calendar a lot and how things will change, how the universe will change on a spiritual plane etc.
It's one of those things that I'm not quite sure of how to handle... I just shrug and think, when change comes, I'll see it. If I don't, I don't. :)

You know, of all the ways that I can think of to die, that one sounds very humane. I love sleeping. That comfy feeling of snuggling under some blankets and drifting off to sleep is nice.

But, yeah. I expect to wake up on Saturday morning. :)

Well, staying asleep will be better than cleaning my apartment.

Yeah, Camping (or his spokesman) seems to have been trying to comfort people who believe his teachings by telling them that God was going to be very humane after all. As End of the World stories go, it could have had a messier ending.

Are you still here now?

How about now?

Or now?

Guess the world didn't end after all. Maybe next year!

As I read this, it's the 1st November. Guess he missed it again?

It seems so. There are conflicting reports about Mr. Camping's reaction to the world's failure to end, but rumor has it that he's complaining that God didn't tell him everything.
