The Great Music Oracle

List of questions gacked from a friend's f-locked post. Other people use their iPods or WinAmp players as great music oracles. Me? I used my Launchcast station, of course. (Question 14 has been altered to fit my preferences.)

O Great Oracle, answer me true!

1. How does the world see me?
Oomph!, "Viel Zu Tief."
Um. This is what I get for listening to songs in furrin languages, isn't it? Babelfish translates the song title as "Much to low." Anyone out there with a knowledge of German?

2. Will I have a happy life?
Because of some connection issue (probably noise on my phone line), Launchcast did not play me the Mal Z. Lawrence track "What's the Use." It also skipped over Siouxsie & the Banshees' version of "This Wheel's On Fire." The song it finally got around to playing for me? Taxiride, "Happiness Without You." I'll take that as a Yes!

3. What do my friends think of me?
Nick Lowe, "The Rose of England."
I swear I am not making this up.

4. Do people secretly lust after me?
More connection problems, it seems. Tears for Fears' "Sowing the Seeds of Love" did not play. The player skipped on to the Laura Love song "Bad Feeling." Hmmmm.

5. How can I make myself happy?
Natalie MacMaster, "Gravel Shore."
Maybe this means I need to go traveling. (An instrumental piece, so there are no lyrics to help with interpretation.)

6. What should I do with my life?
Nashville Bluegrass Band, "Blackbirds and Crows."
Okay, this is a song about a woman being murdered. I'm not so sure about this...

7. Will I ever have children?
National Symphony Orchestra, "Miss Turnstiles."
So some day I'll have a girl? It seems unlikely to me that I'll ever have kids, but such is the Oracle's answer.

8. What is some good advice for me?
Robert Rich, "Buoyant on Motionless Deluge."
Yeah, I really should practice my relaxation techniques more often.

9. How will I be remembered?
Icehouse, "Break These Chains."
I got to break these chains
No, you never could hold me down

10. What's my signature dancing song?
The The, "This Is the Night."
Well, I can try to dance to it.

11. What's my current theme song?
Sting, "Love Is Stronger Than Justice (The Munificent Seven)."
Huh.

12. What do others think is my current theme song?
Roberto Michelucci, "The Four Seasons, Op. 8: Concerto No. 3 in F Major, RV 293 'Autumn': 3. Allegro (La Caccia)."
But I'm in the Northern Hemisphere, you guys!

13. What shall they play at my funeral?
Toto, "Stop Loving You."
Oh, I dare you to play this at my funeral. I certainly won't object.

14. What type of men do I like?
George Winston, "Hummingbird."
::gigglefit::

15. How's my love life?
Liane Foly, "Les P'tites Notes."

I'm trying so hard to be quiet because Ken is having trouble getting to sleep tonight, but damn some of this was just really really funny!

6. What should I do with my life?
Nashville Bluegrass Band, "Blackbirds and Crows."

How about you be the murderer and not the murderee?

Um...I think turnstiles means you're going to have an open house wherein you have many many children by different men.

Viel and its various endings I thought meant "many" and ganz was "much," but it's only been since June that I've been out of my German classes, and I'm already forgetting stuff. "Much too low" seems like a reasonable guess to me, more than "Too Many Teeth," which is what I first scanned the title as (which is still wrong, because "teeth" is Zähne). "Much too deep," probably, because Tief means "depth."

Ja, ich spreche eine kleine Deutsch.

I pretty much came up witht he same thing as mysticpenguin did, though. "Much too Deep"

Sure, but do you all really think my current theme song is related to Autumn?

Wait a minute... "La Caccia" has to do with hunting, doesn't it? Umm. Is there something I should know about the hummingwolf's status on the endangered species list?

The last time I tried one of the music oracle memes, I kept getting violin concertos and songs in African languages I had no hope of translating. Music synchronicity was strong last week, though, so this time turned out to be much more fun!

Well, it was one of those bluegrass songs about a man murdering his wife--in this case because she was leaving him and he wanted to keep her at home. (I've seen this described as a "good man with a bad woman" song; but while I understand that a woman leaving her marriage to return to a wild, wild lifestyle is seen as a not-good thing, frankly I can't see the man who'd kill her as "good" in any way.) Maybe the advice for me is simply to avoid marrying the kind of man who'd murder his wife. Then again, it's not like I was planning on marrying that kind of guy anyway, if I could possibly help it.

Hmm. I thought the girl in the piece was crowned "Miss Turnstiles," kinda like a pretty girl at a turnip fair would be "Miss Turnip." Then again, there was a new Miss Turnstiles chosen every month, and having a new child (or even a new man) on a monthly basis seems impossible without some science-fictional means of assistance (okay, a new man monthly might not require advanced technology, but it still seems unlikely).

The world sees me as too deep, eh? And Germanic, too, I guess. Hmmm.

Silly world.

Well, I'd rather be thought of as too deep than as having too many teeth. After all the trouble I've had with 'em, I'd like to keep all the teeth I've currently got!
