Thanks again to everyone for your support. It means more to me than I know how to say.

Never heard from the dental students the dentist was going to contact, so I called the dental office again. Receptionist doesn't have any news for me, and the doctor will be out of town for a while because of a death in the family. She said she'd ask him for any info and I should call back next Tuesday. Depending how that goes, I may just call Howard University's dental clinic that day and make my arrangements that way. Since I don't really know any of these people, it does not matter to me whether I get a dental student this dentist knows or not--I was just hoping that his getting in touch with someone would shorten the process.

I suspect that more than my gums are infected right now; I have had that run-down feeling you get when your body's busy fighting something for you. Walked 2.5 miles yesterday anyway, after spending most of the day in bed. With temperatures way up in the 60s, how could I stay home?

On Wednesday evening there was an igloo still standing in front of a local apartment building. That igloo had collapsed by yesterday afternoon. Trees all over town were covered in buds. Today's high temperature here was comfortably above 60, but the cold front has sent temps into the mid-50s now. Very windy now. Slight chance of snow tomorrow. I don't care what the calendar says--this month is obviously March.

rinsing with baking soda and diluted peroxide (not at the same time) is actually what my dentists and doctors have told me to do for an infection while waiting for an appointment. It's always helped.

I imagine if you did both at once, your mouth would be very fizzy.

Heehee...fizzy mouth...

heh. yes, that was my thought, since we used to make rockets that way.

there are things that claim to mix these two things for dental hygiene, but in very diluted forms. Having accidently followed one rinse with the other without enough rinsing, I find it highly unpleasant.

The dentist & ER doc both suggested salt water rinses, which I've been doing 3 times a day. That's probably close enough to the baking soda solution. Peroxide seems like a bad idea in my case, since it can do damage to fragile tissues and my gums are very fragile now. I bought some Biotene toothpaste too, since it's designed for people whose mouths are in pretty much the state mine is now (would have bought Biotene mouthwash till I saw that it has aloe vera in it; I suspect rinsing with an allergen would be a bad idea). Hopefully those things plus the antibiotics will help enough till the next appointment.

But what a fun gimmick for a science fair project!

Your temperatures were in the 60's? How lovely.
We're having a bit of a cold snap, with freezing winds and temps coming down from Canada.

Yes, our temperatures *were* in the 60s for a few days. Tonight's low is expected to be 13, and I don't even want to *think* about the windchill.
