Hold on loosely

Having waited quite a while today for voice mail to transfer me to the next available representative, I'm trying to decide whose choice of hold music was sillier. So I'll ask you: Is a financial institution offering Phil Collins singing "There must be some misunderstanding, there must be some kind of mistake..." sillier than a health clinic playing a cheesy, beepy synthesized version of "Home on the Range"? The beeping folk tune sounds like somebody's cheap cell phone ringtone, but at least that particular voice mail system isn't going on about mistakes and miscommunication.

Yep. And it's not that they're piping in Muzak or anything--I have heard that same song while on hold with them before. It amuses me every time!

"...a financial institution offering Phil Collins singing 'There must be some misunderstanding, there must be some kind of mistake...'"

That is too hilarious. That should be made into some kind of a T.V. commercial ad.

The Phil Collins is pretty darn silly, I'd have to say. (^*^)

Phil Collins is pretty silly, but my vote goes to "Home on the Range".

Of course, once I heard it I'd be humming it for the rest of the day.

For all I know, it has been. I don't watch enough TV to know what kind of ads these folks have used.

See, I think someone actually *chose* to use the Phil Collins in voice mail. I haven't had to deal with that system very often, but I know I've heard "There must be some misunderstanding" during a call to them before.

That's almost what happened to me as well, but then I reminded myself of the Phil Collins track and started giggling again.

Ah, I ought to try the "Home on the Range" office again. I haven't gotten one of their humans on the line since last Friday.

That would just be perfection if it was on purpose.
