hummingwolf: Drawing of a creature that is part-wolf, part-hummingbird. (Hummingwolf by Dandelion)

Today was one of those days of starting out feeling sluggish in the extreme (barely able to sit upright for a while there), then getting a burst of energy mid-afternoon when it's too late to do most of the useful things I'd like to do. Did get to the bank to deposit money from housemates, though, so that was a plus.

As it turns out, today's burst of hummingwolfian energy was not long after the detection of a major solar flare. Coincidence? Probably yes, but it does amuse me.

So, I did what I usually do when feeling extra-energetic with nothing useful to do--I went for a walk. Now, I was not feeling as energetic as that time a couple weeks ago when I walked well into DC, so I was quite clear in my own mind that I would not be walking that far today. I was going to go just over the DC line, wander a block or two, then come home.

Frankly, I have no idea where the heck I walked today. Or, I have some ideas, but they make little sense when I look at a map and try to figure out what the heck I was doing. Looking at a map trying to find a sane route between places I remember walking past just leaves me muttering to myself, "Man, that is so messed up." See, it is difficult to become truly lost in the places where I walked, but it isn't all that hard to get yourself turned around and going in the wrong direction for a while. I got turned around at least twice. When I finally got to a place I recognized, I thought, "Hey, I'm only a mile & a half from home! Wait... I don' wanna walk that faaaaar!" Hunted in my purse for a few quarters for the bus to take me home, which was probably the best handful of change I have ever spent.

The shoes bought just last week are already showing noticeable wear on the soles. My feet hurt.

Now is time for chocolate. Have a good night, all!
