Grr. Argh.

Ever noticed that many of my posts with titles like "Grr. Argh." are bureaucracy-related?

Yeah. Good thing I've got canned food around.

Indeed. I hate it when I do all the paperwork they require and they send me a letter saying they're closing my case (or rather, have already closed my case) because they have no records of me responding to their requests for paperwork. Probably filed me under the wrong letter of the alphabet or something. Grrrrr.

And ::hugs back::

Again? What is wrong with those people?

Copier fumes are killing off their brain cells one by one?

Maybe something in the water cooler?

That could be too.

Grarrrgh. I really hate having to deal with bureaucrap. I know you have no idea how that feels, right?

[identity profile] yasminke.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely no idea. Nope, none.

Yeah, I didn't think so. You're in the lucky land with no bureaucracy at all. And I'm the Emperor of Atlantis.

[identity profile] windsparrow.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, honey, that just sucks beyond belief!

[identity profile] windsparrow.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, no wonder you have so much grief with bureaucrap! Emperors and paperwork never get along!

Ask Napoleon! He hated it!

The sad part is, if you're used to dealing with bureaucracy? The suckage isn't beyond belief at all. There's a reason I've been stocking up on beans.

Your other comment made me giggle. Thank you. :-)

"grr. argh" indeed.

and "gah!" and a few other noises of disgust.

i think you should write a nasty-gram type letter to whatever branch of the state government is supposedly in charge of these things. not because it will do much good, but because it can't hurt and they were duly elected to listen to people bitch about what a shitty job they are doing and it is about time they earned their place.

i am a strong believer in writing letters to anyone and everyone involved (even vaguely) with whatever screw up i am dealing with. i leanred it from my mum, who would say "i'm going to write a letter" and we all went "oooh..." and were not being sarcastic. *someone* was gonna find their arse in flames before she finished. she got a state law changed (or worked around. or something) once, when they said that only in the presense of a nurse could kids take meds in school, and there was only one on campus in most schools once a week. my little brother took daily meds and couldn't eat without them. the school board, half the state government, the newspapers, and the white house all got letters. it was fixed within a week or so.

and no, i don't think it will make all the problems go away, but i do believe the truth in the squeaky wheel saying, and i don't think that it will help to just try and live with it. they really are on the ass end of the spectrum there, and seem to screw up even more than is usual. (though, sadly, it is a close race.)

let me know if there is anything i can do. seriously.

*hugs*

Yeah, I really do need to get into the habit of writing the nasty letters. One reason I don't is that I haven't got a working printer, so if I want to get a hardcopy to someone, I'll have to do it by hand. Considering my hands *really* don't like behaving themselves that well for that long lately... well, I haven't written any letters longer than about 5 lines in a good long while.

Gah. Guess I'll have to do something about changing that. either write something off & on by hand or find out the holy secret of which single library computer has WordPad on it, and whether or not that machine will let a person print anything from disk.

Does the library have the Start..run command locked off? If not, go there and type in wordpad.

Most of the time it's simply removed from the menu. Same with Notepad.

I once made a shortcut on the desktop to it...

Yup. Also, most of the computers (possibly all; I haven't asked) will not let you read anything off your own floppy disk; so if I were to find the mythical Computer with Wordpad, I'd have to compose any letters right there at the library, within a time limit. Fun times.

[identity profile] dcjensen.livejournal.com 2005-06-05 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
How about this:

1. Get a web-based email account, like Gmail or yahoo, if you don't have one. ( I think you do, but I'm off in this thought. You could set one up just for this sort of thing.

2. Write your letters and spell-check them at home.

3. Copy and paste the letter content into individual emails to your web account.

4. At the library, find the mythical Computer with Wordpad, open your webmail, copy the content from a letter into Wordpad, check formatting and such, again.

5. Print.

6. [reserved for future use]

7. There is no 7.

8. Repeat step 4 and 5 as neccessary to print more than one created in step 2 and 3. [IF (L > 1), THEN 4]

Good thinking. That plan works IFF the mythical Computer with Wordpad also happens to be one of the computers with internet access... so I really do need to find out what kinds of capabilities the mythical Computer with Wordpad actually has!
