Snopes tackles the AIM TOS controversy. Hmm... looks like I was wrong when I said the TOS wasn't all that new. Mea culpa. But I thought I'd read something like that when signing up for the AOL free trial.

Levels of commercial flame retardants in human blood samples have risen sharply since the 1970s, which would explain why I haven't spontaneously combusted recently. One wonders how this sort of thing would affect the phoenix's life cycle, though.

Via [livejournal.com profile] secrecy_news: News organizations, openness advocates and others are promoting the week of March 13, dubbed "Sunshine Week," as an occasion for recalling and reinforcing the value of open government.

On a personal note, this seems a good metaphor for my mental state. Hey, Libras are supposed to be well-balanced.

Why is it that my Launchcast station can play a set consisting of tracks by Ella Fitzgerald, Queensryche, and Loreena McKennitt, or one with the Corrs, Jah Wobble, Nine Inch Nails, and Petula Clark--and I feel like there's a desperate need for more variety?

goodness. that kittypic is precariously adorable.

and i'm not sure about the how/why of the launchcast thing, but that's why i stopped listening to it. i can't explain it, but i know exactly what you mean.

thanks for the snopes link. i don't IM except to jeff and my brother, but still... it's good to know the TOS item was misread.

i think it's just because they're playing stuff you've already rated, so it feels too familiar. i rarely listen to my own station either. i'm pissed that launchcast axed their Italian Dinner Music station. how to get enough frank sinatra, dean martin, and rosie clooney?

I saw that pic on [livejournal.com profile] kittenbreak this morning and thought "Hey! that's me!" Except I'm less adorable at this hour of the day. Heh.

I usually listen to other people's stations rather than my own, so it always surprises me a little when I hear what plays on the personalized station. So out of curiosity, where's the station you created?

I was glad to see Snopes contributing their 2 cents. People who distrust AOL will still distrust them, but that's a good and healthy thing anyway. At least other people may find a reason not to panic so much about their conversations online.

Have you written to the Launch folks asking about the station? User questions and complaints sometimes get results with them.

nah, i didn't care that much. it just seemed typical that they'd axe the few stations i liked. they have five million rock stations i wouldn't spend a minute with. i think i'm waaay out of their age demographic. ;D

I'm not usually one for cuteness, but I just about fell out the boat when I started hitting Random on kittenbreak.com

Awwwwww.

PS: Tell anyone I said this and I'll have to kill you

Would be problematic for Johnny Storm as well.

Oh man.... I don't even try to pretend I'm not a cute-aholic, but I seriously looked at that thing for hours! Mom and me both sat there and looked at kitten after kitten making high pitched squeals. And of course when I happened across one of the pics of my kitties I was overjoyed. :-P
