Romantic News Story of the Day

Two people get to know each other online, fall in love, make plans to get married--and then when they meet in person, angrily divorce each other because they were already man and wife. If ever two people were made for each other, these two were.

Oh my god, how sad! They were made for each other, true, but, well, couldn't forgive each other, even though they both did the same damn thing. I blame modern organized religion... Sufis like Rumi would have handled this much more maturely...

It's like the old Pina Colada song. Except that turned out happily-ever-after. Even though both parties were planning to cheat on each other.
I always thought that was the stupidest of songs.

File that in the "Too good to be true" category.

Ummm...wow.

She's lucky he just divorced her, seeing as how it's Jordan...

oh geez. that seems like poetic justice somehow.

Yeah, things could have turned out much worse for her. But somehow the impression I got from the story wasn't that either was in danger, just that both were incredibly childish.

I wouldn't blame modern religion myself, at least not specifically. If anything, blame whatever in their culture has enabled them to remain so childish for so long. Institutionalized religion is probably a part of that, but too much television is probably a big part as well. At least the story reads to me like a bit of a bad sitcom!

Heh. Well, people can be stupid, in pop songs and in real life.

And yet, sometimes things that are "too good to be true" turn out to have a basis in fact anyway. So far, this one looks like a real news story, though I'm guessing there will not be much about the rest of their lives hitting the newswires.

It does, doesn't it?

People. Sometimes you don't know whether you should laugh or cry when you hear more about people.
