Christmas Eve Update

The bureaucratic frustrations were not resolved this week. While this is unsurprising, it is, well, frustrating. Someone at social services tried to reassure me yesterday by saying that I had done everything I was supposed to do, but that is not so reassuring when you see no evidence that anyone else involved in your case is doing what they are supposed to do. If this continues into the new year, I'm thinking it's time to contact some local officeholder for help kick-starting somebody or other.

Made lots of other phone calls yesterday. Bleah.

Did do more fun things this week, though. Decided it was time to play around with POV-Ray figuring out how to get random small objects to move in interesting paths, which would be much easier if I remembered 9th grade geometry and 11th grade trigonometry. I have, however, gotten objects to move in circles, figure 8s, horseshoe paths, and some other patterns I have no names for.

I also decided it was time to create a new Launchcast station featuring any musician who has ever performed on a Hector Zazou album, which surely is no sillier than the ideas for other theme stations out there. Will tweak it later to get a more appropriate genre mix, and will also try listening to it from the outside. Listening to it from the inside (that is, signed into the station rather than signed in as a different user), I'm hearing mostly music recommended for fans of the artists. Who knew Peter Gabriel fans were so fond of Wang Chung?

Thanksgiving was spent with someone I went to high school with and her family. Plans are for Christmas to be with someone my mother went to high school with and her family. I'm looking forward to it.
