I do have hopes that the tone in my voice will convince someone to help me out so that I will go away and leave them alone.
I should loan you my children. When the boys were young, sometimes I had to take them shopping with me. If the salespeople ignored me for too long, I'd let go of the (figuratively) fairly tight leash I kept the boys on, and let them run wild through the store, making camps in those round clothing racks, until someone helped me. Although they are both college-aged, I'm sure they'd be happy to bother people until you were helped. :-)
