Well, there's a big difference between being sensitive to how you affect others and taking responsibility for a situation only tangentially related to you. Sensitive people may be more susceptible to letting others place the blame for a situation on their shoulders, but letting yourself take that blame is a far cry from reasonably taking responsibility for your own actions.
What I was thinking of when I wrote the post wasn't so much whether I might hurt someone's feelings as whether or not someone would take my actions as an excuse for some wacky behavior of their own. Like I said, it's a case where I have influence, but it's a chaotic situation where what I do may spark some unpredictable effects.
