Really Random

You know, I probably shouldn't have ascribed all my apathy to depression yesterday. I'm pretty sure the fact that I had a bleedin' fever had something to do with it too. Yeah, didn't accomplish anything of substance yesterday except for... wait, I didn't do that. Well, I... no, didn't do that either. But I did manage to get my fevered brain to figure out that a bunch of old housemates owe me gobs and gobs of money, about 3/4 of which I actually have a chance in Heck of getting back. Yay?

Also yesterday, spent a fair amount of time talking to new housemates. Cool. I like this crop so far. (Also stayed up late-ish chatting, but that's not noteworthy enough in itself to mention in the normal non-random post. Wish I could think well enough to comment intelligently on people's posts today, but I'm distracted by chills and general oogieness right now.)

Had a doctor's appointment today. Two things I like about this doctor: (1) In spite of being hideously overworked, she actually listens to what the patient (or me, anyway) is saying, and (2) she admits she doesn't know everything, but she wants to learn. Not sure if this makes up for the 100 minute wait to see her. Anyway, my blood tests were all in the good ranges ("Why can't everyone have cholesterol numbers like these?"), so if I do have an infection or deficiency now, it wasn't a raging one at the time.

Prescription for new pain drug since the current one's not doing much for me; prescription for an OTC vitamin supplement which should be covered by the health plan unless they've changed their rules since the last time the doctor checked; and referral to a physical therapist. Also, still need to make appointments for eye checkup, dentist, and psych, but I don't need referrals for any of those.

For this year's September 11, I get to go to Social Services and convince them I still need Medicaid and food stamps. Or was it cash assistance? Either way, it's bureaucracy, but scheduled to be with Caseworker Number 1. Since she's the one who managed to get me approved after all those months, I'm hoping there won't be any undue hassle this time.

Bought that Vertical Horizon CD that everyone was listening to three years ago for $1.05 including tax. Such a spendthrift, aren't I? Oh, my wicked, wicked ways.

Went to the grocery store. Absolutely nothing exciting happened, unless you're excited by my buying a different kind of salsa from my usual (roasted tomato with cilantro rather than southwestern with black bean).

They say that Mercury is retrograde and Mars is retrograde, but nobody seems to know which of today's influences meant so many people had to play with their LJ account status. As of now I've seen more undeletions than deletions, so I'm breathing a provisional sigh of relief. Sure, it'd be more of a relief if there were less pollen in the air, but sometimes you take what you can get.

In today's science news, the sun is made of silly string.

This post peters out about here.

MMMM, cilantro salsa.

I made my own this week, with home grown tomatoes, fresh cilantro and sweet onions.

I hope yours was yummy.

My salsa isn't nearly as fresh as salsa de casa UN, but it does taste pretty good in chicken burritos.

As for the sun string cheese--dude, what would you do with it? It's much too hot for eating!
