Bits & Pieces

Been bonding with the Jonatha Brooke CD that [livejournal.com profile] daisydumont so generously gave me a few weeks ago. Ms. Brooke's got melancholy lyrics as always, but it's still cheering me up. Good good music.

Did not watch the speech last night. Turned on the TV and could tell immediately that Dubya wanted to eat my spicy brains. Since he'd have to fight [livejournal.com profile] bunney for them, I knew it was best for everyone if I just turned the TV right back off again.

No, I don't intend to discuss the war today unless I find more news stories about talking gefilte fish.

Got a bill in the mail from the doctor's office today, so apparently they are still willing to take my (or someone else's) money. As long as they give the form back, I won't complain too bitterly--if I can manage to drag myself to their office and make the payment.

Yeah, that's a big "if." I'm still shaking from hearing the phone ring a few minutes ago, though I did manage to get close enough to the phone to turn up the volume on the answering machine in case there was an important message (there wasn't). Been nervous lately when talking to people in person, too, except for librarians. I love librarians. Yes, they fixed the little problem with the computer thinking I had overdue items, so I can keep on checking out books and clutching the last couple of scraps of my sanity. Want the other shreds of my sanity back, dang it; I've been without 'em far too long.

Ooh! Ooh! I got a package from [livejournal.com profile] ziege the Mad Yoga Instructor! A package including a rock from Tintagel and no mushy peas! Woohoo! This is sooo cool. Thanks, Ziege, I feel better now. :-)

I'm a fan of Jonatha Brooke from back when she was in The Story. I remember going to their shows a couple years in a row at First Night in Boston with a bunch of friends who would be standing in the back of the hall yelling for them to sing "Dog Dreams". I don't have any of her more recent stuff, though. I think the most recent CD I've got is "Angel in the House", which was either her first or second solo record.

It's one thing to dislike the phone. It's quite another to be actively scared of the thing when it rings. I really need to get over this if I want to get anything done. Thanks for the good wishes--and everything else!

"Angel in the House" was a Story album--the only one I've got, actually. Maybe you've got "Plumb" or "10 cent Wings"? They're all excellent albums.

That's right. I have "Plumb". That's what I get for posting from work instead of going home and actually checking.

Me too. Lots of very cool stuff for such a small package. :-)

Thanks again!

Wow, funny you should mention that...I saw George and instantly started craving your spicy brains...

Hey, are you going to be in chat later?

See, I knew you'd be wanting my brains again, even though it wasn't so long ago that you'd regurgitated 'em. Dubya just emanates that brain-eating vibe somehow.

Tried getting into chat but the Java wasn't working for me. Maybe some other time--I'm deeply tired tonight anyway.
