Augh! (Not the Entry I Wanted To Write)

I hate hot & humid weather. What's more important, the hot & humid weather hates me. In the heat, I'm more likely to pass out, less likely to think clearly, more likely to get migraines, and really very miserable in general. So naturally, the summer that I can't afford to pay for air-conditioning is (so far) the third-hottest summer on record for the area.

This year I got a new symptom--a nasty little heat rash. Well, it was little when it began. I thought it was a reaction to a cheap shampoo I'd bought (Herbal Essences, I thought maybe the rash was my punishment for wanting an organic experience before marriage). Anyway, it turns out not to matter what products I use or avoid: when the weather is cool, the rash subsides; when the weather is hot, the rash spreads. Yesterday my belly and back looked and felt like a return of the chicken pox, with big nasty pink bumps all over. Since I spent most of yesterday in an office with A/C, the rash is only a little bit worse today, with a light dusting of itchy, slightly painful pink spots on my legs. Yay, not only do I hate the heat, I'm allergic to it.

Anyway, today I was supposed to go talk to some people trying to help me find a job to work on the resume, get my skills evaluated, various other stuff I've forgotten. I was supposed to wear business-type clothing rather than my usual comfy loose jeans & loose top combo. I'd forgotten how much tighter my more professional-looking items of clothing (not a large selection) are. I'd repressed the way pantyhose feels even when I don't have a rash. There is no way in Hell I'm getting to that appointment in those clothes. I've rescheduled for Tuesday in hopes that the temperatures will be the predicted 10 degrees cooler then than they are today.

I really, really hate the heat.

In other news, somebody left the refrigerator/freezer door open all night Tuesday, so I had to throw out some food & there's melted gunk all over the inside of the fridge now. At least the freezer partially defrosted, so there's a bright side.

Also, my radio quit working again.

aww, *hugs* sweetie!

halfway thru august, the nasties will soon be gone! hang in there!

hm, i'm sure you've prolly tried *everything* but have to suggest: have u tried that aveeno oatmeal bath stuff? supposed to help even for highly allergics/sensitives.... *shrug* dunno, might bring some small relief

when i lived up north (in an a/c-less apt), i used to periodically stick my head in the freezer, and once out of desparation, i put a bunch of ice in front of the fan in the window. *giggle*

*HUGS*

I used to go through baby powder by the case when I worked outdoors years ago.It helped me with the rash.

I tried baby powder earlier in the summer, but it didn't seem to help any. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Thanks! Next week is *supposed* to be cooler. That's what they're saying *now*, at least, but you know how they like to tease us and change their minds about these things.

I suspect the radio's problem has to do with the power supply, or the pin that's supposed to stick into the power supply's cord. But I could be completely wrong, and haven't the foggiest idea what to do about it that wouldn't cost me money... wah!

I haven't tried much for the rash, actually--most things cost lotsa money, which I don't have much of. I did get some Aveeno lotion today, so we'll see if that helps any. Thanks for the suggestion!

Gah, I wish I had a fan in here that I could put ice in front of. Sticking my head in the freezer wouldn't work too well 'cos both our freezers are pretty much full... guess I'm stuck having to wait for cool weather to arrive.

I'll get back to you later--too tired to write much now. Hope you're having a good evening!
